Add a compliance layer to your assessments by verifying participant data directly through their Brazilian Tax ID (CPF). The report is delivered within the platform, no external tools required.
What is Background Check
Background Check is an assessment step that prompts the participant to provide their CPF. After the assessment, you run the query and receive a PDF report with the data linked to that CPF.
The query is processed by Exato Digital and consumes Background Check credits from your account.
This feature is available exclusively for participants with a Brazilian CPF. Foreign participants can skip this step without affecting their assessment.

Security and privacy
Background Check was built with security and data privacy best practices:
The participant's CPF is collected with explicit consent: by submitting, the participant expressly authorizes the query of their public data.
Data is transmitted securely between Coodesh and the Exato Digital provider.
The PDF report is stored with restricted access: only authorized users within the company can view it.
Access links are generated on demand with an expiration time.
Who can use it
Background Check is available to companies that have Background Check credits in their plan.
Roles that can run the query: Administrator, Manager, and Business.
Restricted roles can only view the report once it is available.
Report types
When setting up the question, you choose the report type. Each type has a credit cost:
Type | What it includes | Credits |
Standard | Criminal records and data linked to the CPF | 1 credit |
Driver's License | CPF data + Brazilian Driver's License (CNH) validation | 2 credits |
Credit Analysis | CPF data + credit analysis | 2 credits |
How to configure Background Check in an assessment
Go to Library and open the desired question (or create a new Background Check question).
Under Settings, select the report type: Standard, Driver's License, or Credit Analysis.
Save and add the question to your assessment as usual.
How the participant responds
The participant sees an Identity Verification screen during the assessment. They:
Enter their CPF in the provided field.
If they don't have a Brazilian CPF, they check "I am a foreigner (I don't have a Brazilian CPF)" and skip this step without any impact on their assessment.
By submitting, they authorize the company to query their public data.
The participant does not receive the report. It goes directly to the company's dashboard.
How to run and view the result
After the participant completes the assessment:
Go to the participant's result page.
Find the Background Check card in the answers panel.
Check the status:
Ready to query — CPF was provided. Click Run query.
Processing — wait a few minutes for the result.
Available — the PDF report is ready. View it directly on screen.
Insufficient credits — your account has no balance. Purchase more credits.
Not applicable — the participant indicated they don't have a Brazilian CPF.
When you click Run query, a confirmation modal shows how many credits will be used. Confirm to proceed.
The query is irreversible. Credits are deducted when you confirm.
Frequently asked questions
Does the participant need to have finished the assessment before I run the query?
No. You can run the query as soon as the CPF is submitted, even if the participant hasn't completed the assessment yet.
What happens if the participant is a foreigner?
The participant checks "I am a foreigner" and skips the step. The status shows "Not applicable" and no credits are consumed.
How long does it take to get the result?
Results typically appear within a few minutes. In high-demand scenarios, it may take up to 15 minutes.
Can I run the query more than once for the same participant?
No. Each participant can have only one Background Check query per assessment.
How do I get more credits?
Contact the Coodesh sales team or access the billing section of your platform account.
