Guide to Answering Assessments

The developer will receive an invitation link to access the Assessment

To take an Assessment you need to receive the invitation link. You can open the examples for your field of work to see how our questions work.

The example assessment does not affect your score; it is there only for you to get used to how the platform works. It is a good option for anyone who has never used it before or is taking an assessment for the first time.

Good conduct practices

Taking an online assessment is an important step in the evaluation process. To make a good impression and have a smooth experience, follow the guidance below:

Environment and presentation:

  • Dress properly, as you would for an in-person interview.

  • Prefer a well-lit space, ideally with natural or artificial light in front of you, not behind.

  • Use a neutral, tidy background, avoiding cluttered spaces or a lot of movement behind you.

  • Choose a quiet place, away from outside noise such as TV, loud music or other people talking.

  • Put the camera at eye level to keep natural eye contact.

Behavior during the assessment:

  • Avoid eating, drinking (except water, discreetly) or smoking during the assessment.

  • Let the people around you know that you will be taking an assessment, to avoid interruptions.

  • Keep your phone on silent and close any applications you do not need on your computer.

  • Do not consult other people, websites or reference material during the assessment, unless it is expressly allowed.

  • Keep a professional posture and keep an eye on the time for each question.

Technical preparation:

  • Make sure you have a stable internet connection before starting.

  • Preferably use a desktop or laptop, or check whether your assessment is available on mobile devices (we do not recommend a phone for technical coding assessments).

  • Test your microphone and camera beforehand, in case the assessment needs audio and video.

  • Use an up-to-date browser;

  • Take the example assessment before the main one to get familiar with the platform.

Starting the Assessment

Initial instructions

When you start the assessment, you will see some basic instructions that matter for how the rest goes:

  1. This assessment is timed. Make sure you will not be interrupted, because the timer cannot be paused once it starts.

  2. Make sure you have a stable internet connection.

  3. We recommend trying the example assessment for a few minutes before taking the main one.

Integrity

You will be told which resources are monitored during the assessment. To continue, the talent has to turn on and grant the permissions requested.

Once they are on, click Continue to review your environment setup.

Environment setup

Check that your environment is set up correctly: connection, camera, microphone and the permissions needed.

Click Continue and accept the platform terms to start the assessment. If you have questions about the integrity and security process, we recommend reading our Privacy Policy and our Terms of Use carefully before accepting.

Home page

When you start, you reach the assessment home page, where we list:

  • Number of questions

  • Assessment duration

  • Each question individually

Your assessment

You can come back to your assessment and repeat the previous steps to start answering the questions on the home page. Each question has its own time, and together they make up the assessment time.

Question Formats

We currently have more than 10 question formats that can be part of an assessment.

The main formats you may come across are:

  • Coding

Finishing the Assessment

Once you finish every test listed in your assessment, just click “Finish Assessment”, and you will get a completion message.

If any test is still pending, the system asks whether you really want to submit the assessment.

After finishing, you can rate the process and leave your feedback. If you would rather not, you can skip this step.

Once you submit, your assessment is complete.
