Parameters: cost centers, departments and work schedules

How to set up and maintain the cost centers, departments and work schedules your company links to people, teams and careers.

The Parameters page holds three lists for your company: cost centers, departments and work schedules. Once created, you can link them to people, teams and careers, and use them as filters on those screens.

Who can access it

Go to Settings > Parameters. Admin profiles create, edit and organize the lists. Manager profiles can look up each entry and its details, but cannot change anything.

Create a cost center or a department

  1. Open the Cost centers or Departments tab.

  2. Click Create cost center or Create department.

  3. Fill in the Name. It is the only required field.

  4. Optionally add a Code, an Owner and a Description.

  5. Click Save.

For the code, use the same identifier your payroll or ERP uses. A code cannot repeat within the same list, and case does not matter: CC-100 and cc-100 count as the same code.

The owner is a manager in your workspace who is accountable for the entry.

Create a work schedule

On the Work schedules tab, click Create work schedule. Besides name, code, owner and description, a work schedule describes the working arrangement:

Field

What to enter

Type

Day, Night or Weekend.

Hours and Period

The workload and whether it is daily, weekly or monthly. For example, 44 hours per week.

Coverage

Brazil, Global or Specific country. For a specific country, pick the country.

Shift pattern

Monday to Friday, Monday to Saturday or Other. For Other, describe the pattern, such as 12x36.

Holidays

National or Specific local holidays. For local holidays, enter the location, such as São Paulo/SP.

Type, hours, period, coverage, shift pattern and holidays are required. The country, pattern and location fields only show up when the option you picked needs them.

Default work schedule

One work schedule can be the default for the workspace. It shows a Default badge in the list.

The default work schedule is assigned automatically to people invited without one and to people who finish onboarding without one. It never replaces a schedule someone already has.

To pick the default, open the work schedule actions menu and click Set as default. When creating a work schedule, you can also turn on Set as default in the form. There is one default at a time: setting a new one clears the previous one.

What you can do with each entry

Click the three dots at the end of the row to open the actions menu:

Action

What it does

View details

Shows the entry without allowing changes.

Edit

Changes any field of the entry.

Clone

Opens a new entry filled in with this one's data, with "(copy)" added to the name and an empty code. Adjust what you need and save.

Archive

Removes the entry from the options people can pick, without undoing existing links.

Restore

Brings an archived entry back to the options.

Delete

Removes the entry. Only works when no person, team or career uses it.

Archive or delete

Archiving is the safe way to retire an entry. It disappears from the options, but whoever was linked to it stays linked, and the entry shows as "(archived)". To see archived entries, switch the Active filter to Archived or All.

Deleting is refused while the entry is in use, and the message shows how many people, teams and careers are linked to it. In that case, archive it instead.

The default work schedule cannot be archived or deleted. Set another one as default first.

Search and filter

Search looks at the name and the code. Under Filters you can combine owner, code and creation date. For work schedules, also type, period, coverage and whether it is the default.

The open tab, the search and the filters are kept in the page address, so you can bookmark or share a filtered list.

FAQ

Are these links required?

No. Cost center, department and work schedule are optional everywhere, including in invitations.

Is the Sector field on the profile the same as Department?

No. Sector is a free-text field on the person's profile and works as before. Department comes from this list.

Where do I pick these entries for a person, team or career?
